Enjoy the Process

1. Home: Where are you from? Where do you live now?  I grew up in the west of Ireland, in a small rural town with my parents and one sister. I spent some time living in New York City, Austin Texas and now call Los Angeles home.

2. Purpose/Life’s work: How did you find your calling to yoga and sound healing? Growing up, I had a lot of health issues - severe allergies, food intolerances and asthma.

My Mother spent so much time and years researching and exploring various lifestyle changes. We moved towards a more holistic lifestyle and my mother opened a health store in our home town. It was there I had my first encounter with the yoga practice.

I fell in love with the physical practice, I became really interested in the 8 limbs and my first yoga book at the age of 17 was Donna Farah’s ‘Yoga, Mind, Body & Spirit’ which I read cover to cover and highlighted almost every page!

From there, I grew curious of the ethereal body, the chakra system and sound healing. As this journey continued, I saw major health improvements and overall felt more connected to myself.

I participated in a sound healing course in Dublin in 2016 and my first 200 hour training in 2020 and never looked back!

3. Source of Inspiration: What inspires your process when you create yoga sequencing or sound journeys?  My inspiration comes from various sources; a pose, a song, seasons changing, global issues.

In sequencing, I love to be creative and offer people a safe sanctuary to feel into and outside their bodies, to challenge themselves and to breathe & move a little differently.

I think offering people that permission is a very important part of guiding within the yoga and wellness space. (there is enough distractions in the outside world to pull)

Sound healing flows in a similar manner.

We are surrounded but sound and sirens, notifications and news alerts all day, I think the sound healing element is such an important part of healing and down regulating our hyperactive nervous systems.

In sound healing, I offer people a place to ground down, remove the noise and let the brainwave activity slow down, still the mind and maybe even have a cathartic experience.

4. Music for the soul: We love your playlists! What songs have you recently added?Thank you! I am passionate about feel-good music. I love to move to down-tempo rhythms

Some of my current favorites are ‘Sunday Glide’ by Kermesse, ‘Thanda’ by Caiiro & Pixie L and ‘Earth Groove’ by Vijay & Sofia Zlatko, Notte.

5. Movement as Medicine: What is your philosophy in teaching and practicing
‘movement as medicine’?

I think I mention this in every single class, move from where you’re at. That means, if grief is moving through you, move with it. If energy is flowing through you, utilize it. If gratitude is not present, how can it become a tool to define your movement practice ‘I am grateful to move my body today’.

Some days, we need a little more help to get on the mat or go for that walk in the sun, and it means tapping into that inner knowing that movement is energizing, softens stress and benefits sleep regulation.

6. Nourishment: What feeds your soul? Body? Mind?

We hear mind, body & soul a lot in the wellness space and it’s almost as though they are 3 separate entities but they are one. They are what make us unique, individual beings.
When I think of being nourished, I think of something that seeps in and is absorbed on a cellular level. Things that hydrate me and keep me fluid: My spiritual practice, continued learning, healthy vegan diet, time in nature, time with friends & family, journaling, movement and self-expression, warm matcha, good music, dancing, meditation, fresh flowers……

7. Vote with Your Dollar: How you do shop sustainably?

I care deeply about sustainability and I believe we should make conscious choices with our dollar. Sustainable brands like Teeki are really important (& cute!)

I also love to support Earth Hero who make sustainable shopping easy and they offer plastic-free and carbon neutral packaging. The farmers market is also a great way to consciously shop, it’s important to know where produce is sowed and sourced.

8. Community Connection: Can you share some of the ways you’re involved in your local community as a yoga teacher or in any other capacity?

I’d love if you joined me on the mat! I teach at various studios across LA (you can message me on Instagram for a free pass anytime!) I also just began hosting weekly live soundbaths online.
Thursday evening 7:30pm PST.

10. Advice: Best advice you ever got? What advice can you give us?

Oh man, this is never an easy one to answer. I have a notepad full of quotes from teachers, my lifecoach, my family, friends & instagram!
One that stands out and has helped me a lot over time“Enjoy the process and detach from the outcome
I think it’s a beautiful intention

before yoga practice - detach from the outcome

beginning a new relationship -  detach from the outcome

developing a new business - detach from the outcome.

It’s creates an expectation and stress before the beginning has begun.
